Happiness is...

running out of batting, and finding that the fabric shop has sold out but happens to have a funny old bit under the counter which is exactly the right amount, with a little Frankenbatting from the offcuts bin.  It's just for this that I keep all the offcuts from quiltmaking.  You never know when they will come in handy  - quite often because of my incompetence: those skinny strips are fantastically useful if quilt creep has left your batting shy of your top.

It doesn't pay to get smug though, and quilt your work to itself.  Doh.

  1. Well at least you didn't sew it to your t-shirt, which I'm ashamed to admit has happened to me.

  4. Hi Catherine, I've not only sewed a quilt to itself, I once basted a queen sized quit to my friend's brand new wall to wall carpeting. (First and last time I used one of those basting guns!

  5. Yep been there done that!! Not only that but I'm so lazy/impatient that when there are multiple pieces of batting I don't join them, just pin, quilt and hope

  7. I have pieced batting before, you can't even tell, lucky you...you had some scraps in your basket...
Often times, mistakes tend to happen when we are tired and push ourselves...It's usually a sign that it's time to quit...for me anyway.
Hey I sewed my fingers before...two times actually.
